Ahead of International Yoga day on June 21, Haryana Government and Chandigarh Administration have geared up to observe the day in a big way.
While Haryana and Punjab’s Capital Chandigarh will host this year’s International Yoga Day celebrations at Capitol Complex with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the mega event, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev will organise an event to observe the International Yoga day in a big way at Haryana’s Faridabad.
Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij on Thursday said that three-day Yoga Training Camp would be organised at Patanjali Yogpeeth Haridwar from May 14 to 16 ahead of International Yoga Day and as many as 84 ‘Sadhaks’ would be provided training during this camp.
The Minister said that 21 yoga trainers of AYUSH Department, 21 DPI’s working in Education Department, 21 master trainers of Patanjali yogpeeth and 21 police personnel skilled in yoga would be trained during this programme. Following this programme, the participants would be given the responsibility of master trainers.
On the other hand, the Chandigarh Administration will organise yoga training camp of yoga trainers at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 here from May 13 to 15 in the morning. Certified yoga instructors and experts will be imparted training as per the 45 minutes yoga protocol, chalked out by the Ministry of AYUSH for the main event at Chandigarh. The yoga experts who will attend the training session would then teach yoga in schools, colleges and institutes.
These volunteers consist of yoga experts from Patanjali Yogpeeth, which has been officially appointed by the Government of India to coordinate and assist Chandigarh Administration in organising the grand event of Yoga Day.
As per the proposed programme, the national function, including a yoga demonstration would be held from 7 am to 8 am in Chandigarh on June 21. The event will be organised by the UT Administration in collaboration with support from the State Governments of Punjab and Haryana.
More than 20,000 people from Haryana and Punjab would participate in this event. The participants would include school and college students and teachers, Home Guards and police personnel.
Last year, the Union ministry of Ayush had set two records — for the largest yoga session ever with 35,985 participants and for most nationalities, 84, taking part at a single venue at Rajpath in New Delhi on International Yoga Day. Dressed in white and a Tricolour scarf, the Prime Minister had last year led the group through a variety of poses, including the Vajrasan and Padmasan
during the International Yoga day celebration.
On the other hand, Yog Guru Ramdev, who is Haryana’s brand ambassador for promotion of yoga and ayurveda, has already announced that around one lakh people would do yoga asanas on June 21 at Faridabad, where he would be organising a yoga shivir. Before the International Yoga day on June 21, yoga shivirs would be organized in Faridabad from June 17 to 21 and a door to door campaign would also be organized where volunteers will spread awareness about the benefits of yoga.
Apart from this, yoga programmes would be organised at village, tehsil, sub-division and district levels in Haryana. The Sports and AYUSH Departments would hold yoga training camps at village, block, sub-division, district and state levels with the assistance of Yog Peeth Haridwar to educate people regarding yoga.
